Welcome to Summer at Hochstein and the wonderful array of offerings we have in store for you! Hochstein’s summer program provides an ideal time to explore something new or to keep those skills fresh for fall. Children ages 5 to 10 can take a fun-filled journey through music, art, and movement during three sessions of Arts in Action summer camps, each with a different theme. We also have two brand new camps – Elementary Wind Band Camp and Woodwind & Brass Chamber Camp – a new camp in Hochstein's Music Lab focused on writing songs and making beats, and new opportunities for young string players at String Chamber Music Connections this summer.

Spend a week at Eastman making music with people just like you- who love playing, learning, and creating, all in a supportive and fun environment. This is an exciting day camp with activities that include ensemble rehearsals (band and string orchestra), music and movement, percussion (for all), and World Music.

From pet portraits to designing and drawing imaginary zoos, we'll explore and create all things animals all week.

Learning another language has never been so much fun! Early childhood is the best time to learn another language. Maximize your child’s window of opportunity and give them the gift of bilingualism this summer with our amazing language immersion virtual camps. A different thematic unit is offered every week and tailored for each age group. Maximum of 8 children per group. Perfect for ages 5-10.

Learn traditional techniques of working in clay from throwing on the wheel to hand building, we’ll experience it all! This camp runs from 9:00am to 4:30pm and is for ages 10 - 15 years of age.

Create amusing paintings, hilarious cartoons, and frightfully funny posters and original memes and learn from the funniest artworks in the Museum. This camp runs from 9:00am to 4:30pm and is for ages 9 to 13 years of age.

How does a lump of clay become a bowl? What techniques do artists use to create ceramic sculptures? This week is a fun exploration of what can be done with clay. This camp runs from 9:00am to 4:30pm and is for ages 10 - 15 years of age.

From riverbeds to rocks, ripples, fish and more, rivers will be our guide (and inspiration) during this fun week of clay camp. This camp runs from 9:00am to 4:30pm and is for ages 10 - 15 years of age.

Tote bags, tie-dye, dream catchers, and braided bracelets…what do these all have in common? They are all made of one common element, fibre! During Fantastic Fibres students will work on fibre-inspired creations while learning about their use in different cultures, for example Kumihimo, the traditional Japanese technique for making braids and cords.

Get ready to create your own games and learn how designers think about creating the next Connect 4! Children will spend time exploring the mechanics behind their favorite games and learn design principles for them to create their own masterpiece.

Throughout the year at Genesee Country Village & Museum, we offer exciting camps that immerse children in history, art, and science! An amazing experience at the perfect time! The perfect experience for students too young for our regular Arts in Action Camp or those not quite ready for camp on their own! You and your child will explore the wonderful world of music, movement, and arts/crafts with popular instructor Barb Bonisteel. In addition to musical fun in the classroom and movement activities in the dance studio, camp includes craft-making and visits each day from guest music-makers. For ages 3 to 4, with parent (child must be 3 by July 1).

Join us in our inaugural year of this exciting new band camp for elementary students! Students will develop their musical abilities by playing in a large ensemble with others. Camp activities will include band rehearsals, sectionals, recreational activities, and musicianship sessions, all in a fun and collaborative environment. For students entering grades 5-6 in Fall 2023.

Join us in our first year of this fun chamber offering tailored specifically for woodwind and brass students! Students will have the opportunity to play in trios, quartets, quintets, possible instrumental choirs, and a larger ensemble with mixed instruments. For students entering grades 7-12 in Fall 2023.

It’s time to make cutting-edge music using a variety of technological resources in Hochstein’s Music Lab in this fun camp offering. This one-week camp is designed for students ages 12-18.

This intensive boot camp will allow students to complete the full beginner public speaking & debate course (i.e. Art of Public Speaking course) offered during the school year within a condensed time frame during the Summer.

Our June camp is held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 11:30. Each day in our 30 min zoom classrooms we will learn through a new theme. Week 1: Brilliant Builders - we do mini challenges with blocks. Week 2: Sensational scientists where we conduct mini science experiments via Zoom. Week 3: Charming Chefs- we will prepare kid friendly recipes. Week 4: Stellar Superheroes - through our daily missions we will learn what it takes to be a superhero.

Campers will explore the MAG, inside & out, and create their own drawings and paintings based on what they see.

These are workshops open to anyone regardless of experience. Introductory, intermediate, and Mandolin for Bowed String Players workshops will allow mandolin players of all levels to improve their skills and enjoy a unique musical experience.

Summer Art Classes/Camp June, July and August 2023, Ms. Mason's Art Club will be offering weekly art sessions. Each session is for one week and we will meet for two hours each day. 9:30 to 11:30 We will be using a variety of materials: air dry clay, painting on canvas, sculpture and crafts materials. It's a lot of fun to be creative and I hope to inspire that spirit!

The name says it all…Music Makers is a week filled with music, movement, and maestros! Students will build and play their own instrument inventions, learn about music theory, and interact with music through writing, dance, and drawing, ultimately ending the week by performing a live show for their friends.

Drawing inspiration from Greek & Roman myths, we’ll make paintings, imaginary paper-mâché creatures and draw and sculpt our powerful characters. This camp runs from 9:00am to 4:30pm and is for ages 9 to 13 years of age.

Girls and young women ages 13-17 can develop their leadership skills and sharpen their focus on future pathways. Throughout the weeklong program, participants will explore key areas of interest and potential careers in a fun and engaging series of workshops and activities held exclusively on the beautiful Nazareth University campus. Activities featuring community leaders across campus include: nutrition and wellness demos, career panels, community service, music and improvisation, and more!

Omega Family Week during the summer includes workshops for adults and kids camps that run concurrently. Meals, community gatherings, and evening entertainment are enjoyed together outside of the classroom.

Act out a play in this week of performance! Children will explore the role of actors and learn to read a script and explore the ancient roots of theater. Children will also play improvisation games and learn the art of thinking on your feet!

Spend some quality time with us in our virtual camps! Our fantastic virtual camps are the perfect blend of academic and fun! Run by trained and knowledgeable leaders on a safe and secure online platform, our French virtual camps will allow your children to spend quality time with an enthusiastic team while enhancing their French skills during any school break! Campers will rotate through a variety of activities! Each day will also include a rotation of academic-focused activities (reading, conversation and comprehension). Much-loved skits, songs and the imaginary campfire will certainly be included as well! Snack breaks are also scheduled twice per session.
