Although we don't have the higher mountains of the east, there is plenty of opportunity for great skiing... and of course, when many people think of western New York, they think winter! We in the nation's Snow Belt are justifiably proud of all of the wonderful opportunities for active family fun available in winter. Below, you'll find links to all of the great places to ski within driving distance of Rochester and Buffalo.

Bristol Mountain
Bristol Mountain offers family fun all winter long for all ages and ability levels with 38 alpine trails and 2 high-speed quads to get you up the mountain and on the slopes. On Family & Friends Night (every Saturday & Sunday night during night operating season) a group of 3 can ski or ride for $79 (that’s only $26.33 a lift ticket!). The special also includes discounted rentals and a free 5pm beginner lesson (based on terrain and instructor availability). Are you new to the sport? Bristol Mountain offers a First Time Ski or Snowboard Package for only $59 (ages 13+). The package includes an 8-hour lift ticket, 8-hour rental, and 3-hours of on-snow coaching.
Swain Resort
Swain Resort is the oldest independently run ski resort in New York State. We offer 35 trails, 2 terrain parks, and 5 lifts. Check out the weekly specials, including College Nights (Sun-Thurs) and Teacher Tuesday - with $29 Lift Tickets & $20 Rentals. Bring your family and friends on a Saturday or Sunday and get the Weekend 4 Pack - 4 lift tickets for just $96, only $24/each! Valid 4pm -close. It's easy to start cross-country skiing! For your first outing, choose someplace with level ground and groomed or well-used paths. Many cross country skiing areas offer beginner day trips, which are ideal.
