For the first time in forever, experience the musical phenomenon that has taken the world by storm! Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature film, Disney’s Frozen includes all the film’s beloved songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, along with new music written exclusively for the stage.

Through acting games, writing exercises, and theater, we’ll learn the basics of playwriting, including character, conflict, and what makes writing for the stage extra special in an era when we’re surrounded by screens. We’ll write our own plays to share with families and friends in a staged reading on Friday.

Weeklong camps July 13-August 21: Join us for a fun-filled camp (full and half day) with a focus on the art of sword fighting. Full Day Camp (9AM to 3PM) teaches the skills of the Olympic sport of fencing, martial arts, stage combat, and more. Half Day Camp will be fencing only (9AM to 12PM). This camp is designed for individuals between 8 and 14 years of age and for anyone without any previous experience, or anyone interested in brushing up on their fencing and martial arts skills! 

You will collaborate with others to identify the problem you want to focus on, write a script, build a puppet, and perform a message to help bring awareness to an issue that young people are facing today. You’ll dive into a week of high-energy creativity where “getting it wrong” is just part of the process. By Friday, you’ll have written, produced, and starred in an original puppet show with a message that matters.

Explore the wonders of the woods with Summer Curiosity Camps at the Cumming Nature Center! Join our outdoor educators as we search for salamanders, build gnome homes, climb trees, and dig for artifacts. Each camp offers a different theme to immerse children in the natural world and spark their curiosity. With 900+ acres and 15 miles of hiking trails, the beautiful surroundings of the Nature Center are the perfect setting for campers to learn basic wilderness skills, nature science, outdoor team-building activities, nature awareness, nature-based art techniques, and more!

We will spend the week learning the essentials of writing and storytelling in a supportive setting. As a group, we’ll go over plot, tension, voice, and other aspects of storytelling across different formats and styles, using a diverse range of examples. Whatever you write, we’ll focus on the story and what makes it shine—what keeps readers reading and audiences interested. This camp will include ample time for writing and creative exercises, opportunities for feedback, mini-projects, and outings

With the GCV&M Historic Village as the setting for adventure, campers dressed in period clothing are immersed in the lives and times of young people of the 19th-century. Campers discover the Pioneer Farm, sample Village life, or dive deeper into 19th century trades, skills, and traditions.

We will use our own magical, mystical, mythical, and/or sci-fi elements to put our characters into a plot filled with surprises. Spin a thrilling tale from the realistic and fantastical opportunities and challenges our characters face. We will create and share scenes that take place in this magical library. Be prepared for some crafts and games along the way.

For children who love to exercise their imaginations, we have a variety of magical experiences! Campers may tumble down the rabbit hole, flitter off to Neverland, enroll in a magical academy, or search the woods for local mythological creatures as they explore, experiment, discover, and create.

We will read short mysteries, solve riddles, and write tales of intrigue. You will learn about the elements of a mystery, participate in shared inquiry discussions, and engage in a writer’s workshop to create your own story. This camp will culminate in an authors’ celebration for participants and their families.

Join like-minded fans for a thrillifying week inspired by the hit Broadway musical and its movie adaptation. Shiz students can expect to be tested on their Wicked knowledge and act out scenes. We will also write lyrics and stories inspired by the musical for our very own Grimmerie.
