The great outdoors is great for kids! During this program, campers will work as a team to sample what Mother Nature has to offer as they immerse themselves in the natural world and engage in a variety of crafts, games, and activities. Amazing amphibians are all around us, you just need to know where to look! Spend a week searching the woodlands and ponds for these cold-blooded creatures around the nature center, where they are known to live. Learn how to safely locate, document, and protect each species. Use field guides, nets and magni-viewers to study them up close. Listen to stories, sing songs, create salamander crafts, and more! |

Whether you are new to fishing or have been fishing for years, there is something for everyone in this class! Learn (or sharpen) your skills in identifying species of fish and aquatic insects, scouting for bait, baiting a hook, catching, preparing and cooking a fish over an open fire. Practice your skills while exploring fishing ponds and the Oatka Creek located on the Museum land that is open only for guided experiences. |

Budding naturalists and outdoor adventurers will love exploring more than 550 acres of environmental preserve. Campers gain valuable knowledge of the
natural world through hands-on exploration of the Nature Center ponds, woodlands, and meadows. Play in the creek, catch your first fish, hike the trails, or learn how to build a campfire. |

Learn to make all kinds of stitches; from sewing, to cross stitching, to weaving, to embroidery, and more! Visit houses in the historic village to look for handmade crafts and see how they were used. Meet our sheep and discover all of the steps along the way to process their wool into a final garment. Hone your own skills as you make a variety of handcrafted, textiles-based items. |

This summer we’re going old-school! Participate in authentic 19th-century lessons at the schoolhouse, barter for supplies at Altay Store and play games from the past. Meet with Historic Village craftspeople and make your own 19th-century projects to take home. You won’t want to cut this class! This is a great choice for an introduction to summer camp at GCV&M. |

Talk about action and fun - our summer camp at Martial Arts America combines the best of fun, friends and excitement. Kids learn basic karate skills, improve their fitness, confidence and focus along with weekly theme activities like ninja obstacle courses, samurai challenges and super hero action. Ages 6 - 12. Have fun learning open-hearth cooking during this hands-on class for girls and boys. Explore the museum gardens, and bring seasonal ingredients back to the kitchen. Learn how to correctly build a fire for open-hearth cooking and make simple 19th-century dishes. During the week students will also make their very own receipt (recipe) book to bring home. |
