Irish Children's Program of Rochester

The ICP brings an equal number of Catholic and Protestant children, ages 10-14, from Belfast to the Rochester area each July. These children, growing up in an environment of suspicion and animosity, experience shared activities and build understanding which they bring back home after their visit. We offer host families unforgettable memories. For host children, we provide a unique opportunity to introduce them to a different culture. Host children and the Belfast visitors compare and discover shared experiences and the similarities they have even though their guests come from a country hundreds of miles and an ocean away. This is a rewarding experience for children and adults alike who are often proud to include an additional Belfast son or daughter to their family.

New York Museum of Transportation

The New York Museum of Transportation is unique among Western New York's museums: In addition to providing train rides on the only electric trolley ride in New York State, we have a large model railroad for model enthusiasts young and old. Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park

Only a short 30 minutes from Rochester, Sonnenberg Gardens offers enjoyment for all ages in its formal gardens, Victorian mansion, and greenhouse complex. Ganondagan State Historic Site

Ganondagan is the only New York State Historic Site dedicated to Native Americans, in particular the Seneca and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) people, and the only Seneca town developed and interpreted in the United States. Ganondagan is the internationally recognized resource for Haudenosaunee history, culture, and living traditions that express universal ideals of peace, cooperation, and respect for each other, and the natural world. Spanning 569 acres, the Ganondagan experience includes interpreted trails, a full-size Seneca Bark Longhouse, the Seneca Art & Culture Center featuring interactive exhibits, contemporary art, the Iroquois Creation Story film, and gift shop.
