What our organization offers:
Seasons / holidays:
Ages for which our activities are most appropriate:
Olivette is a ‘small batch’ enrichment ‘tutorial’ group of young learners (ages 4-7/8 yrs.), beginning its 5th season in the Fall of 2025. 'O' engages in a variety of “tastings” from the feast of education, much of what we enjoy together being: Nature play with theme study and frequent hikes; Artist & related Picture study; Handcrafts; Literature; Free Play (inside & out weather determined) /Yard games/ Creative Movement (ex: mud kitchen, sensory/water table, fort bldg., board games, drama etc.); Cooking and Gardening. Our program content is inspired in part by our locale and seasons, the relational education philosophy and practices of British educator Charlotte Mason, and a hospitable ethos that seeks to cultivate peace and joy through a gentle devotion to Judeo-Christian values. We are a drop off program in a home/outdoor setting (2.5 semi wooded acres with trails and in walking proximity to the West side of Irondequoit Bay and Bay West hiking trails), gathering mornings (9:15-12:30) for an optional one or two half days a week* (plus opt. 2 hr. lunch/play extension-limited openings). Olivette is facilitated by 20+ years experienced early childhood educator and former homeschooling parent with occasional adult guests who come share their specialty interest. We extend a warm welcome to explore our offerings and references. *for 2025/2026 we are gathering Wednesdays &/or Thursdays (communicate your preference and we will confirm what best serves the majority interest).
