The Monroe County Fire Marshals and Inspectors were formed in 1978 to address local fire and life safety issues. The association’s membership has grown to over 165 active members from across Western New York. Many of our members have or are now serving on the Executive Board of the New York State Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association. In addition, several association members serve on New York State Technical Sub-Committees that review the ICC family of codes. The Monroe County Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association is open to all code enforcement personnel as well as fire and life safety personnel both in the public and private sector.

After the untimely death of Gates Fire District Firefighter/Fire Safety Educator Joseph Manuse in 2019, the Monroe County Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association formed the Joseph Manuse Alarm Foundation.  The Mission of the foundation is to provide both smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to departments in Monroe, Ontario, Livingston, and Genesee Counties to carry with them on their apparatus. When they respond to an incident where there are no working detectors, they can provide a complimentary smoke or carbon monoxide alarm to the residents. To date, the Monroe County Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association have purchased and distributed more than 3,500 detectors to our emergency service providers.
