Erie 8’s – Real Adventures, Real Connections

Erie 8’s – Real Fun. Real Skills. Real Growth.
Erie 8’s is a family-friendly Scouting program, part of BSA and Scouting America, for youth ages 10 to 17 and the adults who support them. We meet regularly in the Pittsford, Mendon, and Fairport area, and regularly venture further out for campouts, hikes, and special adventures.
In our group, learning happens through hands-on activities and shared experiences. Scouts develop real-world skills like fire building, first aid, map reading, cooking, and teamwork. They help plan events, take responsibility, and grow more confident with every experience.
Our meetings and outings happen a few times each month, with plenty of flexibility. Some events are relaxed and local—like game nights, skills workshops, or service projects. Others take us to new places for a weekend of outdoor adventure. Families can join in when it works for them, and uniforms are welcome but not required.
Scouting helps young people become more capable, responsible, and kind. The leadership and service experiences they gain now help them stand out later—for college, careers and life. For those who enjoy working on achievements, the path to Eagle Scout is well respected and can be accomplished even by those who join in high school.
Adults are welcome to learn alongside the Scouts, share a skill, or just enjoy the community. You don’t have to be an expert. We support each other and grow together, across generations.
If your family is looking for something more—less screen time, more connection, real learning, and real fun—come see what the 8’s is all about.
