Visual Studies Workshop’s mission is to support makers and interpreters of images through education, publications, residencies, exhibitions and collections. We are an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Since 1969 VSW has offered workshops that are rooted in both practical and theoretical approaches to visual art production. Today, VSW continues to provide opportunities for adults of all levels to expand and deepen their artistic practice. Our workshop model includes enhanced access to VSW’s archival collections and other unique resources for creative exploration. Our calendar typically offers workshops in a variety of disciplines, including: 16mm Filmmaking, EcoBooks, Critique Group for Photographers, Introduction to Virtual Reality, Handmade Film, Photo Surrealism, Video Preservation and more! Class sizes are limited and fill quickly, so sign up soon!

VSW’s intensive art workshops are focused on skills and concepts that will have lasting effects on practice and thinking. Workshops include topics like: bookmaking, virtual reality, film as material, photography, coding, performance, and poetry.
