Local musicians and children from the Submarine School of Music are bringing the 1975 Carole King and Maurice Sendak collaboration Really Rosie to life in Rochester. The production features local celebrity singer-songwriter, Cammy Enaharo as Rosie, and The Submarine Singers (children's chorus) as Rosie's rag-tag group of neighborhood friends. Other musicians include Alex Cote (drums) and Alex Mockbee (bass) and is directed by Katie Morey (piano).
First premiered as an animated TV special 50 years ago in1975, Really Rosie tells the story of an ambitious and imaginative girl from Brooklyn who decides to stage a musical about her life and her quirky neighborhood friends. Set to the vibrant and poignant music of Carole King, paired with Sendak’s delightfully subversive lyrics, the songs explore themes of childhood whimsy, creativity, and self-discovery.
Join us for this special one-time only show! Proceeds will go to the Submarine School of Music Scholarship Fund, which grants sliding scale lessons, making music affordable to all. Doors @ 12:00pm | $10 ADV / $15 DOS / children under 5 are free Show @ 1:00-2:30pm
