Girls Rock! Rochester is a youth empowerment, music education program dedicated to using music creation and performance as a tool for cultivating self confidence in girls, trans, and LGBTQ youth, ages 5 to 17 years. By providing a supportive, inspiring community of peers and mentors, our youth are given an experience where their creative expression and authenticity are nurtured and encouraged, and music creation is provided as a source for learning, growth and positive wellness.

By providing an affirming environment for girls, trans youth, and non-binary youth of all orientations to discover confidence through creative expression, Girls Rock! Camp and Pride! Rock Camp supports the development of a strong community for those who are in dire need of community engagement. It is well documented that LGBTQ+ youth face disparities in regards to personal and community wellness, while young girls of all orientations face challenges in regards to personal and political empowerment.

The format of both of our camps enables youth of widely varying life experiences to come together and form bands as a way of building connections, relationships, and community. The addition of workshops that focus on themes related to diversity, strength, and well-being allow campers to deepen these community connections through in-depth conversations about pertinent topics and to creatively express and explore their greatest musical potential.
