The Genesee Waterways Center offers kayaking, canoeing, rowing, and whitewater paddling from two unique sites -- Genesee Valley Park in the City of Rochester, and Lock 32 on the Erie Canal in the Town of Pittsford. From May 24 through September 28, kayak/canoe rental liveries are open at both sites on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5 p.m. (last boats out 5 p.m., return by 7 p.m. latest).
The Genesee Valley Park site is within view of the unique "water crossroads" of the Genesee River and Erie Canal; the Lock 32 site features a unique whitewater course-- routing water around the 25'-tall lock creates exciting rapids in which paddlers can learn and experience the thrill of whitewater!
The GWC also offers special community paddling events, classes, and customized group outings! Get the full scoop at our website.
We offer flatwater paddling, whitewater paddling, and scull rowing lessons/classes throughout the year (including some indoor pool sessions in winter).
