The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a full-length stage scripted dramatic production, not a musical.
Main Theme: Life leads us into the unknown to discover the wonderful truth of who we are.
The production is grounded in material from C. S. Lewis’ book: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and books in the Narnia series, adapted for the needs of a 25 + Young actors and 3 Adult actors: total: 27 cast members by Director and Producer Karen Dieruf.
The costumes contrast the time of 1940’s England, during the WWII London Blitz, with the magical world of Narnia, depicting the Historical Renaissance period. The cast includes costumes and accessories to portray all the special creatures: beavers, foxes, fauns, nymphs, centaurs, and a lion, wolves, orcs, a banshee, and a Minotaur.
The Open Road Theatre is a - non-profit: 501© 3 org. (2004) Theatre Education Performance Company - from the North Shore of Boston, Ma - recently re-located to Rochester, NY (2017) - committed to building ORT afresh in Rochester.
The Open Road Theatre's shows are multi-age casts: - Young and Adult Actors - high quality production values - costumed in historical times - for the benefit of families, friends and Rochester Community At-Large.
Youth Casting is all-inclusive with no cuts – Participation Theatre Education Tuition –Scholarships are available.
All youth who wish to be in an ORT show are cast in a role suited to his, her, or their natural talents and abilities.
