Introduction to Linoleum Block Printing Dates: Saturday, February 1 & Saturday, February 8, 2025 Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Location: Rochester Folk Art Guild, 1445 Upper Hill Road, Middlesex, NY Cost: $130.00 Immerse yourself in the timeless art of linoleum block printing with Linda Griswold Davis, a renowned printmaker with over 30 years of experience. This two-part workshop is designed to provide you with the foundational skills necessary to create your own unique prints, making it perfect for beginners and those with some artistic experience alike. Workshop Structure: Session 1 (February 1): Begin your creative journey by exploring the basics of linoleum block carving. Linda will guide you in transferring your design to the linoleum and carving your block at your own pace. You’ll have the option to take your tools and project home between sessions, allowing for flexibility in your creative process and time to refine your design. Session 2 (February 8): Return the following weekend for an afternoon dedicated to the art of printing! Bring your carved blocks and learn techniques for inking and printing your designs using black ink. This session will focus on examining your initial prints, making any desired adjustments, and printing a small edition of your final designs. Linda will provide personalized guidance and support, ensuring you gain confidence in your printmaking skills. Materials Provided: All necessary materials are included in the course fee, and each student will receive: Linoleum blocks Carving tools Ink You’ll keep all supplies for future projects, giving you the resources to continue exploring linoleum block printing at home. Who Should Attend? This workshop is open to individuals aged 12 and up, making it an excellent opportunity for both younger and older participants to discover the joys of printmaking. With Linda’s patient teaching style and extensive experience working with students of all ages, you'll create something truly personal and beautiful. Accessibility: The workshop will take place in our Romeo Retreat Center, which is wheelchair accessible, featuring ramp access and an accessible bathroom on the first floor.
