According to Red Cross statistics, trained and certified babysitters are more likely to be hired and paid more than babysitters who do not have training in safety, emergency response, age appropriate and educational play, and respect for all children.
This is one class that encourages the kiddos to bring their electronic device! Cell phone or tablet is ideal for the finale – a “Kahoot!” challenge to test skills and knowledge. They will also participate in our "Friendly 'Tude" game (similar to the game show "Family Feud"), to show their new found skills. SO MUCH FUN.
The training prepares students 11 -15 years old to care for infants and children safely and responsibly.
This is a 4.5 hour course that is filled with fun team activities, and the more serious side of learning basic first aid, how to recognize and respond to choking, allergic reactions, burns, bleeding, and injuries.
Although registration is required for this course, the fee can be paid at the time of check-in (the Library will not be taking the payment). The cost is $60 for each child. A certification card from the American Red Cross will be issued and send via email within 48 hours of the course.
Note: An electronic device is NOT required to participate.
