We need fun-spirited volunteers to carry banners in the parade. Walking in the parade is a LOT of fun as there are thousands of spectators waving and cheering you on.
Groups and families can be assigned to the same banner. We make sure to assign youths to banners not related to alcohol. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is a non-profit organization, and time spent volunteering can be applied towards a high school student’s Participation in Government hours.
The time commitment is 11am - 2:30pm. Volunteer check-in starts at 11am, and we hold a meeting at 11:30am to explain where to go, what to do, etc. We provide coffee, donuts and hot chocolate to the volunteers at the meeting.
The parade route is 1.1 miles long, and it takes about one hour to walk it. The parade steps off at 12:30pm and gradually each division moves out. The last division usually finishes walking by 2:30pm.
