Superheroes Are Everywhere

(AFTERNOONS: for ages 7-9) Superheroes aren’t just in the movies and comic books, they are everywhere: in your family, among your friends, in your neighborhood. This camp is inspired by the book Superheroes Are Everywhere by Kamala Harris. Before Kamala Harris became a district attorney and then a United States senator, she was a little girl who loved superheroes. And when she looked around, she was amazed to find superheroes everywhere who showed her that all you need to do to be a superhero is to be the best that you can be. In this camp children will explore books written by various authors from diverse backgrounds. By exploring different cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds not always found in mainstream children’s lit they will relate and realize that their own story is truly amazing.
