During the 19th century, piano transcriptions became an important way to bring large-scale works to the general public. In this concert, we will hear transcriptions of symphony, opera, concerto, and an orchestral work all performed on a single piano.
Selections include Tchaikovsky’s Polonaise from "Eugene Onegin," Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, Romance from Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Ravel’s "La Valse."
Featuring: Yi-Wen Chang, piano
Admission at the door is $10 per person, with a $20 family maximum. A “meet the artists” reception follows the concert.
The Spotlight on Faculty concert series is generously supported by Hochstein donors. It is also made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
