Sled Hockey Try It Clinic

We are happy to continue our partnership with the City of Rochester’s Genesee Valley Sports Complex with this season’s series of Sled Hockey Try It Clinics!
Led by Rochester Sled Hawks and GV Sports Complex staff, each clinic is designed to introduce people with and without disabilities to the sport of Sled Hockey. Sled Hockey is played seated in an ice sled that has a skating blade underneath it; players use their hockey sticks to propel and slap the puck. These short sticks have an ice pick on one end and the traditional end to hit the puck. Legs are strapped onto the sled so that they are not used during play.
The sport is designed for participation by people with and without disabilities to play together. We invite families and friends to learn to play together! Guests who enjoy the sport may return to ALL of the Try It Clinics, and we also invite you to discuss participation with the Rochester Sled Hawks training team.
RAA volunteers will provide support during the clinics, including skating with players who need a Pusher. A handle is attached to the sled; the player propels and slaps the puck as they are able while the Pusher ensures the player is in the midst of the action.
Great introduction for ages 6+ and adults!
Registration is required. We encourage you to Pre-Register and save time at the event! Drop-ins are welcome; be ready to register prior to participation.
Covid-19 safety regulations will be in place, in accordance with the requirements followed by the hosting site. We ask that you remain masked if you are not on the ice.
