Sensing Nature in Seneca Park

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 06/05/2022
Expert nature guides and storytellers will lead young people and their families in activities that engage their senses in nature. Adults and children will explore the natural environment of Seneca Park, create mementoes that memorialize the experience, and leave with a plan for further nature exploration in Seneca Park and elsewhere.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Children do better physically and emotionally when they are in green spaces, benefiting from the positive feelings, stress reduction, and attention restoration nature engenders. Nature interaction can also spur the natural curiosity that builds toward scientific and artistic exploration.

Adults and children interacting in the exploration of nature has been a fundamental bonding experience and strengthener of mutual respect for human families since time immemorial.

All are welcome, we suggest a donation of $20.00 for each family.

Angela Cannon-Crothers is a lover of toadflax pushing through the cracks of pavement the same as tall pines waving gently in the winds of deeps forests. She holds a M.S. in environmental education and interpretation and undergraduate degrees in ecology and environmental science. When not mentoring children in primitive skills, field journaling, or fairy house building, she can be found tracking bird calls up local waterfall gullies with her dog, or out gathering materials to make whimsical wild baskets and wild teas. With over 30 years of experience in nature-based education, she is the Forest School Coordinator for RMSC's Cumming Nature Center where she teaches Nature Mentors, children, and the general public, about the natural world. She is also a writer, poet, and artist-want-to-be.
