Join us at the Eisenhart Auditorium for a Juneteenth celebration including local performances, music, face painting, ice cream, and more!

Join us at the RMSC Eisenhart Auditorium to celebrate Juneteenth with local performances, music, face painting, ice cream, and more. Admission to the RMSC is not required to attend this free event!
PERFORMANCES
APPEARANCES BY:
- Sunshine 2.0 Theater Troupe: Experience a performance by Sunshine 2.0 in English and ASL.
- Bach Children Chorus from Dr. Walter Cooper Academy: Experience performances of Lift Every Voice and Sing, the African National Anthem, and the American National Anthem.
- Almeta Whitis: Witness expert storytelling and an oral history performance by storyteller, writer, poet, and teaching artist Almeta Whitis.
- Carlos Merriweather as Frederick Douglass: Hear performances of notable speeches from Frederick Douglass re-enactor Carlos Merriweather.
- Jacqueline Sprague and Youth: Four Rochester residents will share the importance of freedom and unity on this day as well as what the flag symbolizes on Juneteenth.
- Sound Bath Workshop: Experience a sound bath using Chakra Singing Bowls guided by Poet Grequan Carter. Visitors will be immersed in a meditation that centers their minds and bodies through singing bowls. This sound bath will include an educational element of what each bowl means.
ACTIVITIES
LOOK FORWARD TO:
- Button-making: Learn about the Juneteenth flag and create your own swag to take home by decorating a button.
- Storytime: Cozy up for storytime about important historical events and figures related to Juneteenth.
- Face Painting by LaQuanda Brinson: Need we say more? Give your face some festive flair with LaQuanda’s artistry.
- 360 photo booth: Strike a triumphant or joyful pose! Step up to the camera to get your own 360 video to commemorate this celebration.
- Black-owned Business Bazaar: Shop and learn about local black-owned businesses in one place while you celebrate the day!
- Message Board: Find quotes and poems from famous abolitionists and suffragists. Then, share with others on the board what Juneteenth means to you!
BITES & FOOD HISTORY
- Food Truck by the Toast Factory: Grab a bite to eat with the Toast Factory! Their food truck will be available outside with food for purchase.
- History of Teall Ice Cream: Come learn about years of Teall history right here in Rochester. Descendants of Alfred Sprague will share the story of his role as a dedicated African-American Teall employee and why the company was a notable success in Rochester. Ice cream will be available for purchase!
