“A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” one of William Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, is the 28th Shakespeare in the Park production presented by Rochester Community Players (RCP) and Monroe County Parks Department at Highland Park Bowl. This fanciful tale of fairies, love, mistaken identities, magic, and mix-ups provides a relaxing summer evening that will have audiences laughing and send them home smiling. According to the director, Lizz K.d., “This is a classical interpretation of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” for contemporary audiences. It is also a marriage of music, dance and theatre.” Local composer Seth Faergolzia provided the music. Special dance sequences to help illustrate the play’s story were created by choreographer Elyssia Primus. FREE performances beginning at 8:00 p.m. are every night except Mondays and Tuesdays from July 11 through July 26, 2025. ASL-interpreted performances are Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. Now celebrating its 100th consecutive season, Rochester Community Players is the oldest community theatre in Rochester, second-oldest in New York state, and among the oldest continuously operating community theatres in the United States. PLEASE NOTE: The necessary cancellation of any performance due to weather conditions will be posted at www.RochesterCommunityPlayers.org and on RCP's Facebook at RochesterCommunityPlayers.
