Ganondagan’s annual Living History event is a popular day for visitors to immerse themselves in all the various aspects of the living culture of the Hodinöhsö:ni’ (Iroquois) people. This year's Hodinöhsö:ni’ Healthy Roots, Culture, and Traditions features re-enactors, hands-on demonstrations of agricultural methods, food practices, traditional arts, cultural traditions and games. Ganondagan also hosts a special book and print signing by painter Robert Griffing who specializes in 18th-century scenes of Eastern Woodland Indians. Native re-enactors featured in some of Griffings’ paintings will also be on hand. The schedule is as follows: Traditional Art Demonstrations 10 am, traditional finger weaving (Marilyn Jacobs) and porcupine quill work (Jamie Jacobs) 11 am, Iroquois White Corn-inspired food tastings by Native cooks Bill Abrams and Lauren Jimerson, with free samples Auditorium Activities 10:15 am, welcome and introduction by Peter Jemison 10:30 am & 3:15 pm, Peter Jemison talk about “Mary Jemison, White Woman of the Genesee” 11 am, guided tour of the exhibit Hodinöhsö:ni’Women: From The Time of Creation 11:30 am & 2:30 pm, two performances of Iroquois Social Dancing Outdoor Activities 10 am & 1 pm, kids try their hand at archery and hoop and javelin 10:30 am & 2 pm, guided walk on Trail of Peace Ongoing Activities, 10 am - 4 pm Book and print signing by Robert Griffing “Clothing of the 18-century Period” with re-enactors Wampum belt and deer part displays, corn pounding, gallery exhibits, arts & crafts activities
