Essay Writing is No Big Deal

Nervous about writing essays in high school or college next year? Don’t be! Essay writing is no big deal. You’ll write a five-paragraph essay (on a subject of your choosing), taking it through the five-step writing process in five days. And you’ll have a former college professor holding your hand the entire way (metaphorically, because it is hard to write with someone holding your hand). We’ll cover how to write a paragraph that has one idea and several supporting details, how to transition one such paragraph to the next, how to identify and articulate a thesis statement that fits what you’ve got to say, how to introduce and conclude an essay without getting in your own way, and how to write an essay on a test that maximizes your grade and minimizes your stress. Some small homework may be assigned.
