Do The Right Thing - Looking for Nominations

The Do The Right Thing Award program recognizes youth for their positive behavior, accomplishments, and good deeds by rewarding students who strive to make good choices, do well in school, give back to their communities, or demonstrate a “turnaround” or improved behavior, and by highlighting these students and their stories in the media to show that good kids are newsworthy. Some examples are: • Acts of heroism • Assisting Law Enforcement/ Emergency Medical Technicians/First Responders • Leadership/role model behavior • Civic responsibility/volunteerism, etc.

Any student enrolled in K - 12th grades within Monroe County is eligible. The incident the student is nominated for must have occurred in Monroe County, and within one year of the nomination.

Winners receive a prize package which may include: Trophy and certificate of recognition, Grocery bag of healthy snacks, Backpack containing school supplies, Age-appropriate toys and/or gift cards, Do the Right Thing merchandise, Opportunity to attend events such as: Summer Leadership Camp, Buffalo Bills Training Camp, and Family Celebration Day, Opportunity to apply for up to a $1,000 of tuition money through scholarship

Anyone over 18 years old can nominate a student. Nominations can be submitted electronically at: www.cityofrochester.gov/DoTheRightThing
