Climbing Club: Summer Sessions
The gym may be closed to the general public, but we are still able to operate this program for youth climbers. And what’s more – they’ll get the whole gym to themselves!
Through games, creative challenges and skill building activities, participants will learn and develop basic climbing skills/technique, improve kinesthetic sense, and increase self-confidence. Participants should expect an active fitness experience which includes elements of bouldering and top-rope climbing and will introduce beginners to the sport of climbing while also providing an opportunity for recreational climbers to advance.
This program will only run if we meet a minimum number of participants. Sign up soon to reserve your spot.
Why only ages 8-and-up?
Due to the increased need for personal protective equipment, social distancing, and other health safety measures, we are initially only opening this program to slightly older kids who will be better able to follow the more complicated rules.
Is the gym open to the public?
Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the go-ahead from NYS so we can fully re-open. However, we are excited to offer this program in accordance with their guidelines.
I live with someone high-risk. What are you doing to minimize risk of COVID transmission?
We are closely following New York’s Sports and Recreation regulations which you can read about here. Also, because we are limiting each session to 10 participants there will be far fewer people in the gym and we will be able to closely monitor participants’ behavior.
I forgot a mask! Do you have extra PPE?
Yes. We are currently providing complimentary disposable face masks as needed.
Will participants be sharing climbing gear?
At the start of each week participants will be assigned their own set of climbing gear which only they will use, and will be stored with their name on it.
