The mission of Children’s STEM Garden, LLC, is to immerse children ages 3-5 in a safe, outdoor natural environment where they can actively explore, imagine, create, & thrive through active, hands-on, child-led play & learning. The natural spaces & small, multi-age groups nurture children’s curiosities, senses, & social negotiations through developmentally-appropriate activities. Our bodies build our brains! At Children's STEM Garden, LLC, Forest Preschool, we use our senses & whole bodies to learn through developmentally-appropriate play experiences outdoors in nature. Hands-on STEM explorations & social negotiations, driven by children's curiosities, are key foundations for the program. Brain & body connections unfold through sensory manipulation of organic materials, dramatic play with peers, & problem solving activities, which nurture cognitive development. Early literacy & numeracy, social negotiations, & problem solving are integrated & supported holistically through our STEM explorations. Max 6 students ages 3-5 per group. Groups meet for 3 hours per day, part time.

We spend each day outside in our large natural Playscape featuring a large Sand Pit, Mud Kitchen with camp "fire" cooking, Rock & Gem Box, Pour Stations, & Loose Parts including crates, logs, & wood blocks of every size. We have plenty of space to move BIG/FAST/LOUD or small/slow/quiet. Rotating maker spaces, diggers, bikes, balls, hoppity hops, dinosaurs, dolls, water, sand, dirt, pots, pans, books, & field packs with tools are some of the resources available to help us discover ourselves & our world!

*My name is Marne Parmelee, & I am a NYS Licensed Teacher (N-6), with an MS Ed. in Early Childhood Education. I'm a Mom & Early Childhood Educator, since 1991. In 2018, inspired by my daughter who taught in a forest school on the west coast, I created Children’s STEM Garden, LLC, as a unique nature play program, which has evolved into a fully outdoor forest preschool. We operate year round as an Informal Nursery program in compliance with NY SS Law 390 & in alignment with NY Preschool Learning Standards. We are fully insured.

Small groups of 6:1 & few transitions nurture sustained, hands-on, sensory play & explorations, social interactions, & problem solving. Cognitive development occurs authentically as bodies build brains through focused gross & fine motor activity.
