*The event has already taken place on this date: Wed, 12/19/2018
Weekly informal breastfeeding support group. Lovely gathering of moms and babies in the community that meet in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. To attend this group, we’re kindly asking for your financial support of $3 per meeting.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Our informal breastfeeding support group is a place for you to spend time with other breastfeeding mothers and our group facilitator to ask questions, listen, share and learn more about mothering through breastfeeding in a friendly, safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment. Our Breastfeeding Cafe is facilitated by Alison Spath, IBCLC, and Jennie Kieffer, CLC.

We welcome ALL pregnant and breastfeeding mothers – whether you are breastfeeding exclusively, supplementing with formula or donor human milk, pumping and bottle feeding, adoptive breastfeeding or re-lactating. We are honored to support you on your journey.

Our Breastfeeding Cafe meets weekly on Wednesdays at 10:00 AM until noon-12:30 but you are welcome and encouraged to drop in at any point during our time together. Pregnant and nursing mothers, babies and young children are welcome to join us.  Please bring a blanket for your baby and quiet toys or books for your young children.  You are welcome to bring snacks or your lunch.  We have an infant scale that you can use during the meeting to weigh your baby if you like.

TOPICS OFTEN COVERED AT OUR MEETINGS

  • Breastfeeding and the early weeks
  • Returning to work, pumping, introducing a bottle
  • Sleep challenges
  • Working through and overcoming breastfeeding challenges like slow weight gain, plugged ducts, oversupply, nursing in public, nursing strikes, handling unsupportive partners, family and friends
  • Starting solids and weaning
  • Advantages of breastfeeding
  • Attachment style parenting, baby wearing, gentle discipline, safe sleep
  • Life with baby, changes in the relationship with your partner

We always begin each meeting by answering and talking about the questions and concerns the mothers in attendance bring to the meeting.  Our meeting discussion tends to naturally evolve based on these questions.  If/when time remains, a breastfeeding related meeting topic is presented.

To attend this group, we’re kindly asking for your financial support of $3 per meeting.  You can pay with cash, check or credit/debit card at the studio.  Thank you so much for helping us help you and other women and babies in our community!

No pre-registration or sign up is required, just drop in!

If you are struggling with a very challenging breastfeeding issue that requires extra attention, it’s possible a private breastfeeding consultation might be necessary for you and your baby.  This can be arranged to happen immediately after our Breastfeeding Cafe meeting, or on another day and time, at Beautiful Birth Choices or in your home.
