AutismUp Summer Social Skills Camp

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 08/09/2019
This program is open to children ages 8-16 with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disabilities. Children are fully integrated into daily camp activities, and supported through trained support coaches while at camp. To us, support means creating an environment where children feel safe to take new risks and try new things! We are very excited to continue providing this type of program and support to our AU families!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Some of the goals for our program are to encourage our campers to initiate and build their social skills by allowing them the opportunity to interact with their peers in an inclusive and integrated space. A few goals are listed below:

Make simple choices
Share personal space with other campers
Engage in turn-taking games
Transition from one activity to another with minimal support
Successfully enter into an unfamiliar or uncomfortable environment
Self-monitor his/her anxiety, and communicate appropriately his/her needs to reduce that anxiety
Listen to another peer and engage in a conversational exchange
Appropriately initiate a conversation or interaction with another peer
Understand the difference between expected and unexpected behavior
