The word photography literally means “writing with light.” Combine the magic of film-based photography with the power of your words. Using a 35mm film camera (provided) and a pen and notebook, you will explore the uniqueness of the Neighborhood of the Arts. There will be opportunities to photograph and write about the outdoor art such as wall murals and sculptures, the interior and exterior details of the many historic buildings, and the gardens and natural areas. You will also take portraits of each other in these environments. Using the darkroom at Flower City Arts Center, you will make your own black-and-white prints, use objects and letters to create photograms, and creatively combine your words with photography. Mornings will be spent at Writers & Books, and at lunch students will be walked to the Flower City Arts Center for the afternoon.
