World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students

A leading authority on education policy, reforms and global competitiveness, Dr. Yong Zhao, will share his perspective on common standards and assessments, data-driven instruction, and what must be done to cultivate global competencies. The interactive program, sponsored by the college’s Ralph C. Wilson School of Education and Monroe #1 BOCES, is free and open to the public - parents, educators, employers, high school and college students, and members of the community.
Yong Zhao, Ph.D. currently serves as the Presidential Chair and Director of the Institute for Global and Online Education in the College of Education, University of Oregon, where he is also a Professor in the Department of Educational Measurement, Policy, and Leadership. He has published more than 100 articles and 20 books, including Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Dragon: Why China has the Best (and Worst) Education System in the World and World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students.
Multiple topics include:
• Understanding the growing demand for creative and entrepreneurial thinkers
• Gaining insights on how you can support children
• Learning how the current model of education is stifling progress
