Vista Teach: LEGO Robotics & Tech Camps
Offering Intro and Intermediate Levels LEGO WeDo Robotics for young learners (Grades 2-4). Working in teams of two, students design their own solutions by building LEGO models along with programming them to perform certain tasks. Cause and effect learning is enhanced with students testing and adjusting their programming in real time. Students also experience data-logging with recording their testing and performance results on Activity Data Tables. At the Intermediate Level, students are challenged to design and build physical models integrating a variety of gear systems and sensors that will perform specific tasks along with designing more sophisticated programming utilizing Wait Statements, Loop Statements, etc. All instructional programming specifically developed to provide more seamless transitioning to LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robotics for middle school students:
Intro and Intermediate Levels LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robotics (Grades 5-8). Each of our students are provided with their own laptop computer for learning comprehensive NXT-G computer programming concepts. Provided with one NXT Construction Base Set as well as one current FLL Resource Set, each team of two students works together with learning specific building concepts in preparation for FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team participation. In addition, we use official FLL Tournament Tables and Field Sets at our NXT Robotics Camps to provide meaningful experiences for our campers with solving specific missions - just like actual FLL Competitions!
These STEM Education camp courses are infused with direct instruction as well as constructivist and hands-on learning experiences seamlessly integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) content and concepts - all in a real world context. Courses taught by a team of highly qualified and NY State Certified Teachers assisted by (paid) high school students experienced in both FLL & FRC. Lead Instructors are Invited Presenters and Speakers for Tufts University's LEGO Engineering Conferences, Consultants for LEGO Education Corporation, Teacher Training Certification at Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy, and years of experiences in K-12 classrooms as well as in corporate software development. Best of all, we are known for our exceptional skills in classroom management, materials organization, comprehensive curriculum development, and ongoing collaborations with Rochester Area FLL & Jr. FLL Coaches with providing informed and meaningful instructional programming. Oh, did we mention our programs are incredibly fun?
