SPRING

CREATIVITY CAMP

How do you teach creativity? We do so by providing a warm, welcoming studio learning environment with artist instructors and access to inspiring artworks for inspiration, time, and materials with which to play.

SIGN UP FOR THE DAY OR WEEK

Monday, March 30:
PUPPETS, SOFT SCULPTURE & COOL PRINTS
Kids will try monoprints, collograph and relief print techniques and make clever sewn puppets and soft sculptures.
Printmaking Techniques (Lisa Myers) and Soft Sculptures (Amy J. Fisher)

Tuesday, March 31:
SCULPTURE & PAINTING
By planning ahead, and adjusting as we go, we’ll make paintings and sculptures that look great; this day emphasizes how artists make prepratory sketches.
Paintings in your Style (Lisa Myers) and Monumental Sculpture Models (Laura Garland)

Wednesday, April 1:
APRIL FOOLISHNESS: ART & HUMOR
Kids will work hard to make art that seems effortlessly funny and enjoy learning (while goofing off.)
Satirical & Ironic Collage (Amy J. Fisher) and Caricature (Eddie Davis III)

Thursday, April 2:
PEOPLE IN PLACE
Teachers emphasize proportion and perspective and problem-solve as kids draw people and places better than they thought they could.
Portraits (Sarah Hart) and Plein Air Paintings (Lisa Myers)

Friday, April 3:
COLOR & COLLABORATION
We’ll learn to find, mix and design around great colors, and in art teams, we’ll put up mini-shows of the art made today to learn how artists collaborate and curate.
Color Mixing for Artists (Lisa Myers) and Curation Nation: Make it & Show it Off (Eddie Davis III)

Each day or week has an overall theme with two related classes and a variety of projects. Our classes are held in a studio setting where talented artist instructors challenge, instruct and provide positive feedback—allowing your child to develop as an artist. Children are closely supervised and enjoy a lunch/recreation break and two snack/stretch breaks each day.

Art Day School provides kids with the teachers, materials, time and the inspiration they need to create artwork they are proud to show. And with six hours of instruction per day, a fully-stocked supply closet and the resources of an outstanding art museum, the artwork tends to be impressive.
