Specialty Camps- Grades 5-9

Archery Camp

Sessions 3, 6 and 8

  • Great camp for those more experienced marksmen or new to archery
  • Includes daily shooting practice
  • Camp will cover advanced topics such as range safety, equipment operation, bow maintenance and repair, and much more
  • Introduction to field range shooting

 

Camp Cory Sampler – Campers Ages 7-12 (Session 8 now FULL, wait list is available)

NEW!  Session 7 added, 6 girl, 6 boy spots!

Session 8 (Full)

  • Spend Monday and Tuesday enjoying traditional day camp activities at Camp Arrowhead
  • Wednesday morning campers will travel to the Y’s Camp Cory located on beautiful Keuka Lake (for more information on Camp Cory, visit campcory.org)
  • From Wednesday to Saturday, campers will have a traditional overnight camp experience, including sailing, zip lining, bounce, kayaking and more
  • On Saturday morning, parents will travel to Camp Cory to pick up their campers, have a chance to meet the overnight staff and tour the camp 
  • This unique day and overnight camp experience sells out very quickly!  Register today to save your spot!

 

STEMtronics

Sessions 1, 4, 5, and 8

  • Explore the technical side of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in an exciting hands-on outdoor classroom
  • Interactive activities include ice cream making, tin foil ship sailing, and rocket ship building
  • Campers will use wood, Legos, toothpicks, blocks, cards, and whatever their imagination allows to learn and complete a variety of tasks
  • Put some common myths to the test!

 

Golf

Sessions 1, 4, 5, and 7

  • Offered through our partnership with Ravenwood Golf Club
  • Teaches the fundamentals of golf – club skills, course etiquette, game knowledge, and strategy, and character education inherent in the game of golf. 
  • Mornings will be spent at Ravenwood Golf Course for a one-hour clinic with their golf Pro, followed by three hours of play time at Victor Hills Executive
  • On Friday, campers will enjoy the Camp Arrowhead experience with the rest of their peers (Fridays will also be marked as a rain make up day for any inclement weather during the week). 
  • Campers are welcome to bring their own equipment.  Clubs are available through Ravenwood at no extra charge. 

 

Mountain Bike

Sessions 1, 4, 6, and 8

  • In collaboration with Park Ave. Bike Shop, Camp Arrowhead offers a comprehensive mountain bike and trail program. 
  • Campers will learn progressive mountain biking skills, bike and equipment maintenance, responsible riding, and safe trail usage. 
  • Part of this program will focus on environmental responsibility.  Campers will learn how to build and maintain a trail system while developing skills on camp property.
  • All equipment is provided; closed-toe shoes are required.

 

Whitewater Kayak Camp

Session 7

  • Learn to kayaking through the Lock 32 Whitewater Park
  • Each camper will be transported to Lock 32, located adjacent to the Erie Canal, for formal instruction and kayaking
  • Campers will learn safety, technique and skills to kayak through both whitewater and flat water courses

 

MACH-1 (Multi-Adventure Challenge Camp)

Session 3, 6 and 8 for campers entering Grades 5-9

  • Campers will explore our 55-acres while gaining new skills in mountain biking, high ropes, archery, and outdoor survival skills. 
  • This program is designed for campers who are new to outdoor adventure and those who seek to challenge themselves. 
  • On Thursday, adventurers will participate in a camp-wide challenge where they will put their teamwork, creek and trail navigation, archery, biking, fire and shelter building, climbing, and other valuable skills to the test.

 

MACH-2

Session 6

  • A step up from the original MACH-1 camp (although not a prerequisite to attend)
  • Take part in new challenges like:
    • Canoe & kayaking at the Genesee Water Ways
    • SCUBA & Snorkeling at the Rochester Aquatics Center**
    • Stand-up paddle boarding at Bay Creek Paddle
    • White Water Rafting at Letchworth State Park
  • Very limited number of spots available!  This camp will fill fast, don’t delay!
  • Campers MUST pass the deep end test at Camp Arrowhead or Southeast Family YMCA prior to the start of camp.
  • **For SCUBA, campers must be atleast 10 yrs old to dive in the deep end. Any camper under 10 yrs old must stay in shallow end with SCUBA gear.
