SBJSA now offers two distinct enrollment tracks that offer a very wide range of experiences. We have simplified the process at the same time expanded the program. The program is open to any kids 8-18, we will place the camper in the most age and skill appropriate progam with their peers and in appropriate boats.
Opti Boomers is designed for campers 8-10 years old that are very new to water activities and need some time to get acclimated to the waterfront and program. This is SBJSA’s only 1/2 day program.
Learn to Sail (LTS) is the camp foundation to sailing and being on the water. All campers will be instructed in the Optimist Pram, the Laser and the 2 person Club 420. All campers will participate in our Adventure Track Program which includes instruction in the care and use of Canoes, Stand-Up Paddle boards, and Kayaks. Ages 8-18. There are 4 Levels to LTS, a camper may spend several seasons to complete the entire program through level 4 or choose to move on to Learn to Race after Level 3.
Learn to Race (LTR) is the camp program that introduces the sailors to a variety of competitive sailing activities. The LTR program is based upon an intramural racing program that includes the fundamental rules of sportsmanship in distance racing, course racing, and all competitions of sailing. The LTR program also includes the Adventure Trak Program. Ages 10-18.
