Sodus Bay Junior Sailing association is a summer sailing camp which focuses on smallboat sailing instruction for youth ages 8–18 following the US Sailing curriculum. Our first summer session begin June 26, 2017.
Each Learn to Sail and Learn to Race run for a full two-weeks from 9:30am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday. The camp director and counselors evaluate the campers at the start of each new session and place them in the most age and skill appropriate program.
We also offer half-day sessions designed for campers 8-10 years old that are very new to water activities and need some time to get acclimated to the waterfront and program. Our ½ day sessions are offered on a weekly basis from 9:30am – 12:30pm.
The days are split between land activities and on the water activities. Our goal is for each camper to be comortable on the water, confidently rig a boat, sail, and return to the dock. They will learn semanship, parts of the boat, sail trim, steering, capsize recovery procedures, and more, all with a focus on fun and safety. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced sailors are all welcome in all sessions.
Session 1: June 26 - July 7
Session 2: July 10 - July 21
Session 3: July 24 - August 4
Join us on Saturday June 10 from 11am to 3pm for an open house and demo sail to learn what we have to offer. Visit our website for more details www.sbjsa.org
