Native American Winter Fun Week at Ganondagan

Join us for family friendly programming during February Break! Come learn traditional winter games, crafts, songs, and listen to traditional stories though out this week of programming.

Tuesday, February 20th

Learn about Wampum in our Wampum Discovery Center, join staff for a craft while listening to stories about hunting, and learn how to play a Hand Game in the auditorium.

All activities are free for current Friends of Ganondagan, and free with museum admission.

 

Wednesday, February 21st

Come join us at the Seneca Art & Culture Center for Furry Friends and Tales, a Corn Husk Doll make & take, the Wampum Learning Center, and learn how to play the Bone Dice Game.

Pre-registration and separate workshop fee is required for Furry Friends and Tales, all other activities are included with museum admission and are free for current Friends of Ganondagan. For Furry Friends and Tales: After listening to bear stories, kids can build their own stuffed animals. For 2nd graders and up, or younger with parent. Individual workshop cost is $18/general public; $15/Friends of Ganondagan members. Pre-registration is required by February 19 by calling (585) 742-1690 or emailing meg@ganondagan.org.

 

 

Thursday, February 22nd

Winter time fun at the Seneca Art & Culture making pinch pots for the daily make & take, learn about Wampum in the Wampum Leaning Center, and join the Hoop Dance workshop in the auditorium. 

All activities are  free for current Friends of Ganondagan, and free with museum admission.

 

 

Friday, February 23rd

Winter fun is to be had at the Seneca Art & Culture Center where you can learn about Wampum in the Wampum Learning Center, listen to traditional stories about birds and make a winter bird feeder, and learn how to sing Seneca Songs in the auditorium.

All activities are are free for current Friends of Ganondagan, and free with museum admission.

 
 
 

Saturday, February 24th- Native American Winter Games Event

Indoor and outdoor activities include snowsnake, snowboat racing, dog sled demonstration, storytelling, Iroquois Social Dancing, book signings, food for purchase and much more. Suggested donation of $10/family includes free admission to the Seneca Art & Culture Center and free snowshoe rental!
