Pitchers entice strikers with dew drops. Fans shout their approval, and by day three a champion is crowned.
A dozen clubs representing the museum’s vintage base ball league, plus squads from Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland and Canada will compete in a round-robin tournament that starts on Friday, Aug. 10. Play continues Saturday and Sunday.
The Championship Game is played at 2:00 PM on Sunday at Silver Base Ball Park, the nation’s first—and finest—recreated 19th-century base ball park.
Tickets to the games are included in the museum general admission price.
The museum’s two ladies’ teams—the Brooks Grove Belles and Miss Porter’s Ladies Base Ball Club—will also be playing Sunday at 1:00 PM on the Great Meadow.
