The Town of Penfield will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony of Remembrance on Monday, May 29 at Penfield Amphitheater in Veterans’ Memorial Park, 3100 Atlantic Avenue. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 AM.
“This ceremony brings the community together to honor men and women who died in service to our country,” said Linda Kohl, Penfield town councilwoman and community services liaison. “Many different service organizations participate to provide a fitting tribute representing our whole community.”
This annual ceremony will feature a variety of tributes to veterans and active military personnel, including guest speaker Colonel Jon Allen, US Coast Guard (Retired), essays by middle school students, and reflective music provided by Penfield Pops Band.
A highlight of the ceremony will be Penfield’s traditional Presentation of Roses. During this time, community members honor and remember active or fallen military personnel with a rose placed on the Veterans’ Memorial monument stone.
