The Kanack School of Musical Artistry was founded in 1995 by author/educator Alice Kay Kanack, to promote her cutting-edge approach to musical education known as Creative Ability Development. Now in its 21st year, KSMA has become a non-profit organization whose goal is to be the epicenter of CAD worldwide. KSMA is regularly visited by guests from around the world who are interested in bringing CAD to their communities. CAD is a method which uses improvisation as a tool to develop the creative part of the brain. When CAD is combined with classic, traditional or Suzuki approaches, students achieve musical artistry. Students of this approach have also demonstrated heightened creative ability in multiple domains.
