Iroquois White Corn Community Cooking Class

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 09/17/2016
Friends of Ganondagan is hosting a series of three cooking classes to teach the importance of white corn, healthy eating, and community building

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Join us for a hands-on cooking class that will stimulate and educate! Using our Iroquois White Corn products--an heirloom seed that dates back at least 1,400 years and is still central to healthy lives and healthy communities of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) people--you will learn about its importance, how to work with the corn to help prepare a tasty and healthy meal, then gather together to enjoy the food you've prepared. The first class on September 17 focuses on a New Mexican-themed meal featuring posole (a traditional, delicious stew-like soup), traditional Iroquois White Corn bread, and dessert. With a holistic approach, Lauren Jimerson (Seneca) will lead the class to create not only healthy food but also healthy community.
