Intro/Intermediate LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robotics Summer 2015 Camps

Using the LEGO Education NXT Base & Resource Sets and NXT 2.1 programming software, students are taught foundational building and programming concepts.

Using the LEGO Education NXT Base & Resource Sets and NXT 2.1 programming software, students are taught foundational building and programming concepts. In this completely individualized course, EACH student is provided their own laptop computer and Base & Resource Sets to use, as well as, direct instruction by a team of certified teachers who are also former professional in engineering. Throughout the camp week, students are provided a comprehensive, structured, and systematic sequence of project-based building & programming modules in structural design and robot navigation, infused with engineering principles and professional practices, with solving for mission challenges on tournament field mats and, with implementing iterative development & testing. Course objectives include: effective Chassis and Attachment Design concepts, Robot Navigation and Manipulation using sensors, programming multiple Switches inside of Repeat Loops, and so on.

This completely individualized camp is an ideal first course for those middle school students who have had no prior experiences in Robotics & Engineering Education.

CODE OF CONDUCT:

Designed for students, entering Grades 5 through 8, who perform well in school with no behavioral concerns that could impact his/her ability to participate in an academically rigorous course requiring application of high-level computer programming, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills as well as, sustained attention to detail, with completing specific project challenges for innovating solutions to the problems they are posed.

For an optional, full-day camp experience, campers can bring their lunch and register for the supervised lunch period, along with other exciting afternoon camp offerings, at Allendale Columbia School – link will be activated once the school’s Summer Camp Program is published.
