Ages: 12-14
In this class taught by a mother-daughter team, both the student’s visual and linguistic creativity will be engaged. We will learn what makes a good image: framing, lighting, setting, angle, color, and subject placement; and we’ll also explore poetic elements including sensory engagement, imagery, voice, rhyme, and message through use of short forms such as cinquain, haiku, free verse, limerick, sonnet, and acrostic. Then we’ll play with how words and image can feed each other. Our creations will then be curated and posted on the Writers & Books’ Instagram feed! Instagram is a perfect vehicle for expressing and sharing our work; it can form a creative community for the student and the class as a whole. Class will include short strolls through the Neighborhood of the Arts.
