New in 2017, the Homeschool ZooClass Series is a four-session series of classes designed for homeschool families and based on our most popular thematic programs. Projects worked on throughout the four sessions encourage both individual and group learning, while providing students the opportunity to take an extended and interdisciplinary look at the wonders of the Zoo!
Web of Life- Cause and Effect in the Animal World
This series weaves together real-world issues about the competing needs of animals, plants, and humans with foundational concepts about animal adaptations, food webs, life-cycles and biodiversity. Students will build on their background knowledge and deepen it through exploration, observation, and analysis. Each day’s activities will include an hour of guided Zoo exploration, an animal experience, a biofact presentation, cooperative team-building activities, and an hour dedicated to project work. Projects may include creating a skit demonstrating cause-and-effect examples, designing a Call-to-Action billboard, working on a team to solve an environmental problem, or building a biodiversity model.
One parent may stay on Zoo grounds for free (although this is not required); any additional adults or children age 3 and older pay full admission.
Students should bring their own snack and water bottle. Lunch is not provided.
