While each Sportopia camp has the same general format, we infuse a wide variety of activities into each camp creating a unique experience. Each camp contains an Active Engagement session, with its main focus on keeping kids active. Each session has a mix of activities that help promote teamwork, sportsmanship and fun. In between the Active Engagement sessions are cool down periods and a lunch break. Each camp also has a Sport of the Week. Here we begin to introduce campers to a new sport, providing instruction in rules, fundamental skills, and light competition. For a more in depth view of a typical camp day, visit our Day in the Life of a Camper page.
Throughout the week campers will learn the basic fundamental techniques in the sport of ice hockey. Such skills will include skating, passing, shooting, stick handling (puck control), positioning, and rules of the game. Campers will first learn proper skills and progress throughout the week into small area games and culminating activities.
