1764, Meet KAYA and friend, "Two Hawks," as they escape an enemy tribe!

There was nothing Kaya liked better than to ride her beloved horse, STEPS HIGH, through steep mountains, deep canyons, and high prairies of her beautiful homeland---present day Idaho, Washington and Oregon. In 1764, she dreamed of becoming a leader for her people. There were many occasions when her independent spirit got her into trouble! In this program, the story is told of her daring escape from an enemy tribe with a new friend from the Salish tribe. You will hear and see all kinds of things about growing up out west BEFORE America became a country. You will view and touch real artifacts, learn and see what it was like to live inside a snug teepee (explore a real miniature one!) Hear about how you would ride horses from the time you were a baby! The program concludes with the children seated around a "campfire" to listen to a real NIMIIPUU legend---just the right amount of "spooky!"

*This program is recommended for children in grades K-5 and their parents/caregivers* (younger and older siblings are welcome as well)
