Eastman School of Music presents: Guest Recital: Aristea Mellos, composition. Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 PM in Howard Hanson Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. Recommended for ages 6 and above.

Global superstar Oumou Sangaré fuses her distinctive Malian sound and voice with elements of blues, folk and rock resulting in a timeless body of work free from borders and genres. Her vocals soar above driving grooves and inescapably danceable rhythms. Recommended for ages 6 and above.

The Musicale: “Performance Plus” series showcases outstanding young performers from the Eastman School of Music, “plus” lively in-concert commentary provided by the school’s Ph.D. students in Musicology. Performances take place at the George Eastman Museum on the third Sunday of each month. The concert is included with museum admission. The Musicale: Performance Plus series at the George Eastman Museum is made possible in part by Joanna and Michael Grosodonia.

Each Sunday evening at 9 PM, October through April, the Schola Cantorum, an ensemble of voices and historical instruments directed by Stephen Kennedy, performs the 30-minute liturgy by candlelight. On the first Sunday of each month, a Candlelight Concert at 8:30 precedes Compline.

The Links Scholarship, a cooperative effort between the Rochester, NY Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and the Eastman School of Music, recognizes and celebrates the extraordinary talent and academic achievement of an African American scholar musician. The 2024 Links Scholarship recipient is Holden Turner.

Eastman School of Music's World Music Series presents: Gamelan, directed by Ken Luk and I Nyoman Suadin. Monday, April 29 at 7:30 PM in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. The World Music Series is sponsored by a generous gift from Barbara B. Smith. This event is free and open to the public, and is recommended for ages 6 and above.

Over the course of eight concerts, Professor Kobrin will present all 32 of Beethoven's piano sonatas throughout the 2023-24 academic year. Kobrin will perform on a Shigeru Kawai piano, generously on loan to Eastman for this concert series.

Eastman Wind Ensemble, under the baton of Mark Davis Scatterday, and featuring soprano saxophonist Alexa Tarantino and bass-baritone Holden Turner, will perform music of Simon and Tyzik. Recommended for ages 6 and above.

Eastman Philharmonia and Eastman Rochester Chorus, under the batons of Jerry Blackstone and Colin Mann, perform music of Vaughan Williams and Poulenc. Admission is free and open to the public. Recommended for ages 6 and above.

Eastman Ranlet Series presents: Ying Quartet. Sunday, May 5 at 3:00 PM in Kilbourn Hall. Recommended for ages 6 and above.

The first prize winner of the Jessie Kneisel Lieder competition on May 11 will present a concert on Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 PM in Kilbourn Hall.
