The Dryden Kids series is designed to provide our youngest audiences and their parents with awareness that great entertainment is often also great art, and a remarkable tool for both understanding and finding our way in the world. Dryden Kids will run on select Sundays throughout the year at 2 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Tickets for all Dryden Kids screenings are free for attendees 17 years old and younger! $6 members, $8 nonmembers, and $4 students with ID.
Explorers (Joe Dante, US 1985, 109 min., 35mm)
Three teenage outcasts band together in Joe Dante’s nuts-and-bolts outer-space adventure. Ben’s cryptic circuit board dreams and Wolfgang’s Apple II wizardry reveal an electric force sphere of extraterrestrial origins. Darren refurbishes a carnival Tilt-a-Whirl into a DIY junkyard spacecraft to find more friends in another galaxy. Featuring the debuts of both Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix, this cult film brims with nostalgia for ’80s computing and ILM graphics. Free for 17 & under.
