Summer Fun Camps at the RMSC: June 29th-July 2nd
Digging for Dinos
Ages 2-3 (Parent with Child)
Discover dinosaurs like never before! Learn all about dinos—big and small! What did they eat? Where did they live? Did they run, jump or even fly? Dig for fossils, examine footprints, dress like a dino and learn about camouflage.

Mighty Machines
Ages 3-4
Grab your hard hat! Construct and destroy with the help of mighty machines! Which machine is the mightiest of them all? A digger? A pusher? A mixer? From pulleys and ramps to excavators and bulldozers, explore the wonderful world of simple machines and giant machinery.

FROZEN in Time
Ages 4-5
Brrrr…it’s getting cold out here! Travel back in time to the Ice Age when snow and glaciers covered the land, water was frozen and large animals like mammoths roamed. Learn about the power of glaciers, make fossils, explore ice crystals and make your own ancient cave paintings.

Icky, Sticky Science
Ages 6-7
Get ready to make icky, sticky substances and oozy, gooey gross concoctions! Hunt for bugs, worms and other critters. Make some messy mixtures, get grossed-out by things that animals and humans do and learn about how your senses let you know when something is just plain gross!

A is for aerodynamics, B is for buoyancy, C is for chemical reactions, D is for design…Take a tour through the alphabet as we sample all different kinds of science; reading and science go hand in hand as we investigate science from A to Z!

Giants of Science
Ages 6-8
Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Leonardo da Vinci…these ‘Giants of Science’ and other greats taught us a lot about how our universe works! Complete some of their experiments and hands-on activities as we learn how to relate their discoveries to our modern world and where scientific research is heading!

Buggin’ Out
Ages 6-8
Jump, slither, crawl or hop into the world of bugs, reptiles and amphibians! Search for spiders, investigate nocturnal animals and explore the Museum’s collection of creepy critters. Make a worm house and bug box to take home. Camp includes dissection.

Use the LEGO NXT robotics kits to build and program your teams’ robot. Compete in several robot challenges throughout the week. Learn about the engineering process and gain valuable teamwork skills.

Get ready to rock with geology and paleontology! Discover some of the world’s richest geological areas-our own backyards! Filled with dirt, rocks, crystals, minerals and fossils, this camp explores how fossils are made. Tour the RMSC’s extensive rock and fossil collections, and dig for your own in a hands-on field trip to
Penn Dixie fossil site.

Ages 12-15
Have a hair-raising good time experimenting with the basics of electricity. Get all charged up with hands-on challenges. Build circuits, create static electricity and discover the connection between electricity and magnetism.
