Taking place at the Eastview Mall Food Court in Victor, NY on Saturday, May 6, six daring, prominent Rochester-area community members will attempt a two-hour ride aboard Eastview Mall’s famous double-deck carousel to raise money for the Pirate Toy Fund. The winner will be determined by the amount of money raised and completion of the ride.
“Not only should this be the most exciting two hours in merry-go-round riding, but it will really help the Pirate Toy Fund offset its expenses of providing our service to the community,” said Gary the Happy Pirate, founder of the Pirate Toy Fund, and one of the six jockeys.
The other jockeys include Rebecca Leclair, news anchor at WHEC-TV, Dino Kay, on-air personality at Fickle 93.3, Mandy Gosnell, co-host of Saturday Morning Car Tunes on WARM 101.3 FM, Otto Harnischfeger, Rochester Police Department Investigator and President of the Pirate Toy Fund Board of Directors, and Adam Schneider, founder of Upstate Breaker Wholesale Supply.
Starting today, fans can sponsor their favorite jockey online at www.PTFDerby.com.
Post time is 11:00 AM. Attendees are asked to dress their “derby best” and cheer on their favorite jockey. Attendees will be able to ride the carousel too during the derby. Proceeds from the rides will also benefit the Pirate Toy Fund.
